Advertisers often track users’ online behavior through cookies and other tracking mechanisms to deliver targeted ads. Some ads may even be designed to trick users into installing malicious software on their machines (so-called Malvertising), and elaborate versions of it might not even require user interaction to compromise the system.

As I explain here, my website does not track youand does not contain ads, and it never will. But other websites do and might not have the best intentions. For that reason I believe that an ad blocker is a must-have tool when surfing the web nowadays. That is why I implemented a “No ad blocker detected” banner on this site. I want to raise awareness and make sure that more people are not exposed to malicious content. An ad blocker will protect you not only from annoying and intrusive ads, but also from malware and tracking.
